'All I ever want is to live where I’ve worn a path deep into the ground. Where I spend so much time loving and living, wearing down the steps to my front door. It’s familiar. There’s a story there, and it’s mine. My home. My family. - I won’t get into why we came to Oak Cliff initially. I’m not one for regrets, but it was a move that I had to wrestle with eventually and decide how to frame moving forward. I moved so many times before Willa was even born. Then two states and four cities in the first six years of her life.  - After that first year in Oak Cliff, I made a decision to choose this place. Give her a chance to grow up with the same kids, same school, same neighbourhood. I hadn’t realised how easy it was to just plant yourself somewhere.'

A series of images made in Dallas, Texas in a sensitive, personal and diaristic visual language. Melissa Laree Cunningham follows the ebb and flow of everyday life, combining the intensely personal with the overlooked and unremarkable details of the world around her.
